RE: Momentum Business Designs Privacy Breach Notification

Momentum Business Designs Professional Corporation, Chartered Professional Accountants (“Momentum”) is hereby informing you indirectly of a recent data security incident that may have involved your personal information. While we do not have any evidence that your personal information was accessed or copied, out of an abundance of caution we are sending this notice so that you can understand what happened.

Momentum has taken much time and effort to search for direct contact information for individuals whose private information was on our affected database. If you have not been contacted directly it is because we either did not identify that your private information was in our database or because we have not been able to find your current email address.

Momentum takes the privacy and security of your personal information seriously. We want to let you know what we are doing to keep your information safe.

On April 3, 2026 we became aware of a ransomware attack on our computer systems by an unknown assailant. The attack locked our computers so we were not able to access our data. Consequently Momentum cleared all data from our computers prior to restoring the data from unaffected backup sources.

The kinds of information involved will vary by individual or entity. Your information may include one or more of the following such as: names, social insurance numbers, dates of birth, telephone numbers, drivers license information, addresses, email addresses, financial information, banking information, accounting and tax data; for current and former employees – information including dates of birth, social insurance numbers, employment details, education history, payroll (including bank account information) and benefits information.

Momentum reported the incident to the Calgary Police Service. We contacted our cyber security provider and our technology services provider. With their collaboration and advice, Momentum decided to clear all of the data from our computers, data storage devices and servers and rebuilt the data from unaffected backup copies.

Computers are continuously being monitored for security issues.

You are encouraged to remain vigilant by reviewing your bank and other account statements and monitoring your credit reports.

You might consider using credit monitoring and identity protection services. Please note that some service providers have themselves been breached, some, multiple times. If you do explore retaining such a service provider, we encourage you to review their security protocols and weigh your options carefully.

Also, promptly report any suspicious activity or suspected identity theft to us and the proper law enforcement authorities.

We sincerely apologize for, and regret, any inconvenience and concern this may cause you. Please be assured that we will continue to evaluate our current processes and safeguards to ensure we keep your information safe.

If you have any questions regarding this matter or Momentum’s policies and procedures regarding the way we collect, use, disclose and protect your information, then please contact Bill Enns at: info@momentumcpa.ca or (403) 205-3340.

Sincerely,
Momentum Business Designs Professional Corporation,
